1993: The Hubble Space Telescope was deployed in 1990, but soon after the first images started coming back it was found that there was a major problem with the curvature of its mirror resulting in images more than ten times blurry than expected. It was up to the shuttle crew of mission STS-61 in 1993 to install an optical correction system that would compensate for the misshapen mirror. The mission was a great success and Hubble has been providing us with some of the greatest and most iconic astronomical images every since!
